Project Worker

Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Project Worker, to work in the Hammersmith & Fulham area. The day centre supports people that are on low income, homeless and/or vulnerable to mental health issues. The service provides a drop in space where people's basic needs can be met (such as providing a space to shower, do laundry and have something to eat).

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 8:30AM - 4:30PM. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 - 2 months. The pay rate for this role is £15.64 per hour, with £2.68 holiday pay, totalling £18.32 per hour.

In this position, you will be expected to;
- Set up the drop-in each day, ensuring toiletries are in the shower, toilet rolls in loos, laundry is completed and the project is ready to open
- Jointly lead and participate in the daily operations of the Drop-in/Café
- Provide an outreach service to encourage continuing participation in the services we offer
- Manage numbers utilising the drop-in and ensure we can safely evacuate at all times
- Provide accurate and confidential advice and information to guests with referrals to other agencies as appropriate and act as an advocate for guests with other agencies
- Provide one-to-one key work sessions for guests who desire such support. Casework typically revolves around benefits, Personal Independence Appeals, Housing Applications or assisting guests to look for employment
- Facilitate well-being groups and activities for our guests. These are varied and include Art, Women's Group, trips out, sport etc.
- Monitor the clothing cupboard and ensure that we have enough stock of items to give out to rough sleepers. Use In Kind Direct and Nextdoor to ensure this
- Undertake Health and Safety checks and deal with all maintenance issues
- Work with the Chef to ensure that all Food Hygiene Regulations are met and to cover the kitchen when required
- Order supplies as required and ensure we do not run out of supplies of essential products such as toilet paper, laundry powder etc.
- Be responsible for the budgets of the Drop-In/Café (foodstuffs, outings and activities)
- Process petty cash and payments in accordance with the projects policies and procedures
- Keep full and appropriate records including; guests attendance and information, client files, incidents and accidents and attendance of all tutors, sessional and locum workers
- Assist with washing up, helping serve meals and cleaning the kitchen at end of the day

- Experience of working with and understanding of the challenges faced by people who are homeless or living with mental health issues
- Experience working in a day centre and engaging directly with service users
- Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and working with vulnerable people to achieve positive outcomes
- Experience of supporting service users to carry out tasks such as budgeting, calculating benefit entitlements and housing applications
- Experience advocating on behalf of service users
