Course Overview


Central Training's Domestic Abuse Awareness half-day course aims to take a comprehensive approach to defining and recognising domestic abuse, enabling delegates to draw on good practice models of support and community-based resources. There will also be an opportunity to practice the skills necessary in providing effective support to customers experiencing domestic abuse.

Learning Outcomes


This course aims to equip candidates with the skills to
  • Recognise the range of behaviours involved in defining domestic violence (abuse)
  • Have insight into the legal framework
  • Understand the prevalence of domestic violence (abuse) and the impact
  • Support, advise and refer people impacted by domestic violence (abuse)
  • Be aware of existing community based resources and multi-agency forums
  • Appreciate the links to safeguarding procedures and risk assessment/management

Methods of Delivery


The trainer will use a variety of interactive training methods to ensure that delegates develop a thorough understanding of the topics. Use will be made of scenarios, case studies, small group work throughout the day.
