Course Overview This training for support staff considers the fundamental principles of good practice in the support setting, providing an opportunity to define and reflect upon essential yet often poorly understood issues such as the meaning and purpose of professional boundaries, whistle blowing and safeguarding, personal disclosure and confidentiality within the client-worker relationship. The highly practical pm session is designed to ensure that all employees are familiar with current legislation and best practice as it relates to data protection and confidentiality. The course covers organisational and individual responsibilities around information collecting, storing and sharing.
Learning Outcomes This course is designed to provide delegates with the tools to: Understanding good practice and professionalism within a support setting Explore the meaning and purpose of boundaries Work within relevant legislation, codes of conduct and ethics Respond to personal disclosure and when to seek consent from the individual Manage client-worker and inter-colleague boundaries Recognise their professional responsibilities when using social media Understand what is meant by confidentiality Describe the legislation that informs data protection and confidentiality Have an awareness General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
Methods of Delivery The course is highly interactive and combines trainer presentations, PowerPoint and flipchart work with pairs work, small group work, large group discussions, exercises and quizzes.
