                Toxic Trio: Exploring Domestic Abuse, Substance Misuse & Mental Health

 Course Overview
  This course looks at the problems families face when parenting capacity is affected by mental health, domestic abuse and substance misuse issues. Throughout the day, the course will intertwine domestic abuse and addiction with an understanding of mental health issues, allowing delegates to consider the stigma, and what professionals can do to support clients and understand how mental health issues can impact the 'family dynamic'.
 
 Learning Outcomes
  This course aims to equip delegates with a better understanding of:  The complexities and dynamics of abusive relationships and its impact on victims, including children The cycle of abuse, a 'victim's journey' and the reasons why victims stay in abusive relationships The impact of addiction on society, children and families The common myths, stereotypes and social tolerance  Ways to support victims in responding to the threat, harm and risk of abuse How health and social care can work with addiction-family interventions
 
 
 Methods of Delivery
  The course uses a range of training methods to provide variety and engagement including Quiz, DVD / real survivor experiences, group discussion, flip chart/group work/feedback individual work and PowerPoint/ Presentation.
