Medication Awareness (1/2 Day) 1/2 day Course Overview This half day course will give social support workers an opportunity to explore issues surrounding drug and medication administration, thereby raising awareness and developing an understanding of this subject. Learning Outcomes Recognising the range of support needs that different clients may have with taking medication Recognising your role in supporting safety, effective use of medicines and independence when supporting clients with medication Administering medicines to clients Storing medication Disposing of medication Managing controlled drugs Record keeping Actions to be taken in the case of adverse reactions Obtaining information about commonly prescribed medicines Understanding the medication & special needs of different client groups Demonstrating the characteristics of medicines used in your own workplace Methods of Delivery Delegates will be involved in group work, theory and personal reflections.
