Course Overview


Central Training's Emergency First Aid at Work - Refresher course is designed to ensure candidates are fully equipped with the practical first aid skills needed to respond confidently and effectively in an emergency. The course offers a skills-focused approach, with a hands-on refresher of techniques including CPR, choking first aid and managing minor injuries appropriately. The trainer will also review the theoretical foundation in first aid principles; ensuring candidates are familiar with the latest guidelines and best practices.

Learning Outcomes


By the end of this course candidates will have covered:
  • Recording incidents and accidents
  • The use of available first aid equipment
  • Situational assessment in order to act safely, promptly and effectively
  • Administering first aid to an unconscious casualty
  • Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Providing first aid to a casualty who is choking
  • Responding to minor injuries appropriately

  • Methods of Delivery


    Delegates will be encouraged to demonstrate their existing level of knowledge in the subject throughout the session, and will have an opportunity to role-play and practice the various first aid techniques. A course handout will be issued to delegates to guide the learning and for future reference.

    Target Audience

    This training is designed for all staff within the regulated and professional sectors of education, health, housing and social care who have previously attended an Emergency First Aid at Work training.

    Training Considerations

    Delegates must inform of any injury, illness, physical impairment or pregnancy due to the mandatory practical elements of the course. Loose, comfortable and non-revealing clothing is advised for safety, comfort and preservation of dignity.

    Certification

    Upon completion of the course, the candidates will receive a certificate of attendance.
