Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (Level 3)

Course Overview



Central Training's QA Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that has been specifically designed for those who would like to raise their awareness of mental health, develop an understanding on how best to support, reassure and signpost colleagues to professional support. Candidates will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to actively promote positive mental health within their workplace, making it an ideal qualification for mental health champions/first aiders, human resources, managers, supervisors and team leaders. The trainer will discuss common mental health conditions including; work-related stress, anxiety, eating disorders, depression, PTSD, OCD, phobias, bipolar, psychosis and suicide.

Learning Outcomes



By the end of this course, candidates will have covered:
  • Understanding mental health and its importance
  • The for mental health in the workplace: roles and responsibilities
  • Importance of own wellbeing as a mental health first aider
  • Common mental health conditions
  • Promoting positive mental health first aid in the workplace
  • How employers can provide support to employees in the workplace
  • Supporting employees who are off work whilst experiencing poor mental health
  • Types of support available both locally and nationally

    The training is delivered in a manner designed to both engage and inform delegates using a range of different learning methods including trainer presentation, power point presentation, large group discussion and small group work, quizzes and case studies along with references, further reading and resources information.
    Please note this course includes an exam - 30 multiple choice questions.

    Target Audience

    This course is suitable for anyone in any workplace setting. It may be particularly useful for those with little or no knowledge of mental health issues. Often those who are already First Aiders in the workplace, will find this qualification a welcome addition to their knowledge.

    Training Considerations

    There are no pre-training requirements for this course.

    Certification

    Upon completion of the course, the delegates will receive an accredited certificate. The award is valid for three years as of the date of assessment.
