Course Overview



Central Training's Introduction to Chemsex course aims to raise awareness around this growing issue and provide candidates with a greater understanding of client impact, barriers to engagement and best practise guidelines. The trainer will focus on the complexities, challenges and risks associated with chemsex which is defined as 'sexual activity whilst under heavy psychoactive influence', mostly among men who have sex with men (MSM). Finally, the candidates will be introduced to the dangers and warning signs of drug withdrawal, with specific focus on the three most prevalent chemsex drugs: Crystal Meth, GHB & Mephedrone.

The course aims to equip delegates with a better understanding of:
  • The history of chemsex and its impact on the MSM / LGBTQI+ community
  • Chemsex substances: symptoms and dangers of withdrawal
  • Specific terms related to chemsex
  • Consent, exclusion and barriers to engagement
  • Risks affecting chemsex clients
  • Best practice guidelines

    All staff working with the MSM/LGBTQI+ community who would like to expand their knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with this group and how to support their clients.
