Course Overview
Central Training's Mental Health and Adolescents course focuses on the knowledge, skills and strategies that will help candidates effectively support and engage with adolescents in mental and emotional distress. The trainer will cover common mental health problems and illnesses in adolescents with a focus on understanding risk and managing potential crises. Finally, the candidates will have the opportunity to understand and discuss different tools and strategies to establish supportive rapport, listening, boundaries and professional duty of care.
Learning Outcomes
This course aims to equip candidates with the skills to: Identify common mental health problems in adolescents (anxiety, depression) Recognise mental illnesses (psychosis, and schizophrenia, Bi- Polar Disorder and addictive behaviour) Understand and manage risk Engage with and support adolescents with these difficulties Establishing supportive rapport, listening, boundaries and duty of care
