Safeguarding Adults and Sexuality Awareness in a Learning Disability Setting

Course Overview

Central Training's Safeguarding Adults with Learning Disabilities & Supporting Sexuality course aims to give delegates a basic understanding of adult safeguarding law and to ensure that they know how to respond if they have any concerns about someone they support. The trainer will discuss the importance of recognising that adults with learning disabilities are individuals with the same rights and freedoms as everyone else while also understanding that some of them may be vulnerable and necessary steps should be taken to protect them from harm. Staff may also find themselves dealing with sensitive issues around sexuality and personal relationships, and may therefore have difficulty balancing risk levels against duty of care. This 1 day course will finally provide an overview of the issues around the sexuality of people with learning disabilities and ensure that staff are aware of national guidance and their legislative responsibilities.
