This course is designed for frontline staff who come into contact with service users who use substances and aims to provide attendees with an awareness of key issues and updates surrounding the use and misuse of a range of substances and addictions.

This course is designed to enable delegates to:

  • Distinguish between different patterns, levels of use and the risks
  • Understand the law governing the possession and supply of controlled substances
  • Recognise the most commonly used substances and their effects
  • Understand the relationship between substance misuse and mental health
  • Be aware of the range of treatment options available
